The Artist: Desiree Bates

I am dedicated to building custom metal art from high quality cold rolled steel, sourced from the finest local distributors in San Diego County. With precision, passion, and innovative design, I create unique, hand fabricated pieces that reflect my clients' visions.

Off-Roader By Blood. Sparky By trade. Metal Art By Passion.

Born Dirty began as an off road racing apparel company and when owner and off road racer, Desiree Bates started a welding program, she fell in love with the art of welding and has incorporated her skill for design into metal art.

Born into the world of off-roading, Desiree Bates grew up riding a 3-wheeler and then gravitated toward two wheels when she began racing nearly 20 years ago.  All of her racing career she has raced the number 666 but for the 2024 race season she will race 569 to represent the Local Union 569 that will be sponsoring her this season.

With a degree in graphic design and media arts, Desiree always loved working with tools.  One day she quit her web design job at iHeartRadio and joined the Electrical Union.  Now she works out of San Diego's Local 569 as a Journeyman Wireman and uses the primary career to fund the passion for metal creativity.
